Koroni in Messinia is situated in the south-western part of the Peloponnesos. Messinia is a peninsula. The largest city near Koroni is Kalamata, the city of olives, which is 50 km from Koroni.

about 400 m from Villa Otium.
The small beach is very cozy. You can choose to either be in the sun or in the shadow.

Zaga beach, the famous several miles long sandy beach is only 15 minutes walk from Villa Otium.

The Giant turtles Carreta Carreta arrive from mid-June to lay their eggs which hatch in August – September. The nests are marked for protection.

 

There are also some taverns at the beach, and you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas.

The old Venetian castle is within walking distance and is a must when visiting Koroni.
Leave the castle area by the main entrance and take a cross street to the right between some small houses and you will arrive to the outer castle area. There are many wonderful views.

In the village there are plenty of picturesque narrow streets.
 
The streets are narrow and the houses are whitewashed in traditional Greek style.
Here you find bakeries, grocery stores, banks,         post office, internet café etc.

Many houses are decorated with flowers and in the gardens you find olive trees, orange trees and grapevine.

In the harbor you find plenty of fishing boats. Every day they deliver fresh fish to the restaurants.
 
After a day at the beach, it is nice to walk along the dockside of Koroni. Here are several souvenir shops, bookshop where you can find foreign newspapers, bars, cafes, restaurants, etc.
Make a stop at any of the outdoor bars, cafés or restaurants. Here you may take a seat at the dockside for a meal or a drink.
